Chelsea Henderson is a Boston-based journalist. In May 2024, she graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University with a B.A. in journalism and communications and minors in Spanish and psychology.

Experience

Chelsea began her interest in journalism in high school, where she was a part of her school’s magazine, The Spartan Spirit. After writing throughout her high school career, she became editor-in-chief her senior year.

At Northeastern, she pursued her interest in journalism through her classes and extracurriculars. Some of the classes she took included Magazine Writing, Visual Storytelling in Journalism, Communication in a Digital Age, Interpersonal Communication, and Journalism 1 and 2.

On campus, she wrote for Tastemakers Music Magazine starting in spring 2020. Her work included editorials, features, and reviews in the print and digital versions of the publication. From Fall 2022 to Spring 2024, she was the magazine’s editor-in-chief.

During her time at Northeastern, Chelsea completed three co-ops.

For her first co-op, she worked for Hot Press Magazine in Dublin, Ireland as an editorial assistant. She wrote over 230 articles for the online and print publications, including news stories, interviews, album reviews and features, and transcribed over 40 interviews.

At her second co-op, she worked as an editorial assistant for the Magazine, Travel, and Address departments of the Boston Globe.

For her third and final co-op in Fall 2023, she worked as a digital marketing co-op at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in Boston, MA.

Interests

Chelsea’s time at Hot Press as well as her involvement with Tastemakers Music Magazine furthered her interest in music journalism. She enjoys listening to music, especially when it’s live.

Chelsea studied abroad at City, University of London in Spring 2022. There, she took journalism classes related to other fields of journalism she is interested in – literary journalism and fashion & lifestyle journalism. She also took classes contributing to her communications degree – contemporary issues in media and communication and gender, sexuality, and the media.

Outside of class at Northeastern, Chelsea loved reading, listening to music, and DJ-ing for Northeastern’s student-run radio station, WRBB 104.9 FM.
